Quality

Quality

We can mention a number of QUALITATIVE PROPERTIES that characterize our solid board and that make the difference between our product and others of lower quality:

1. ODOR: Absolute absence of strange odors on dry board. The odor level originated in fermentation processes on sample with 50% humidity at 30° C is the same as that of boards manufactured with virgin semichemical pulps.

Recycled paper used as raw material is deodorized by way of an autoclave treatment at 120° C during 60 minutes –with the exception of white papers-, and soluble impurities are fully eliminated later on with the pulp washing in rotary thickeners.

2. CREASING: With the suitable use of rules and females to make split lines during previous tracing, even our thickest solid boards can be plied at 90º without “liners” rupture, and with a clear separation of plies at the inner edge of the ply. The positive response to the CIFIVE solid board creasing is based in the best relative quality of the “liner” pulp in the defibering and selective refining processes and in the formation of multiple vats.

3. SMOOTHNESS: The smoothness level of the upper side of the standard solid board is compatible with the usual printing methods; that is to say, it has little rugosity and barely visible felts marks. The smoothened or glazed side of the machine glazed solid board presents an excellent surface to be used with modern printing methods. Our multiply solid board machines allow the operation of every vat wit good dilution and pulp formation, and with minimum lumping, which characterizes high grammages solid boards.

4. HUMIDITY: The percentage of humidity of CIFIVE solid boards is, in all cases, uniform and balanced with relative environment humidity; that is to say, between 6 and 8% for our usual weather conditions.

5. SPECKS: Superficially, the CIFIVE solid board presents no noticeable specks (bigger than 0.25 cm2) or non-fibered paper wafers -usually found in solid boards of lower quality. The autoclave treatment of recycled paper, combined with the high consistency defibering of the “liners”  material improves speck dispersion and defibering of waste papers with high level of coating or impermeability.

6. IMPURITIES: Absence of sand and metallic elements in the pulp (these are removed by hidrocyclonic depuration). The ashes of our solid boards are the result of the normal primitive fillers of the papers used in paper-making, or the ground calcium carbonate added to the “liner” pulp to attain more whiteness and smoothness for the extra and standard white solid boards in both qualities (standard and machine glazed).

7. RIGIDITY: The CIFIVE bending-resistance has ample advantages over the competence. With straps of equal width (5 cm) fastened on a flat support, and cantilever portions of the same length (15 – 30 cm), it is possible to test the rigidity of various samples. This property, which is important for the presentation and strength of folding boxes, is made possible thanks to the “liner” material best relative quality, the proper selection of “filler” material and formation in a multiply solid board machine.

Regarding quality QUANTITATIVE PROPERTIES, these may be determined at the requests of those users particularly interested in certain aspects (mechanical resistance, smoothness, rigidity, etc.) in the Institute of Cellulose Technology (Faculty of Chemical Engineering – Universidad Nacional del Litoral) or in the official CICELPA (INTI) Institute, in accordance with international regulations (Tappi, Scan, etc.).
